1. Who we are
Mon Chiot is a portal that connects families looking for a puppy with responsible breeders across Québec and Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this site, why we collect it, and what rights you can exercise, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25.
2. A portal, not a transaction intermediary
Mon Chiot does not sell any puppy, does not process any payment, and does not take part in the relationship between a family and a breeder. When you click "Contact the Breeder," your exchange happens directly with the breeder — so Mon Chiot collects a minimum of information about adopting families.
3. Person responsible for the protection of personal information
Any request relating to your personal information can be addressed to our privacy officer, reachable at info@monchiot.ca.
4. Information we collect
| Information | Why | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Email address ("Notify Me" form) | Let you know when an upcoming litter is confirmed | 12 months, or until you withdraw consent |
| Breed and region searched | Pre-fill your search filters on your next visit | Browser session only |
| Site analytics data | Understand which pages are viewed and improve the portal | 14 months |
We do not collect any sensitive information and never ask for banking details through this site. Mon Chiot does not collect any information about your household, children or other pets: those exchanges happen directly with the breeder you choose, under their own privacy practices.
5. Cookies and analytics technologies
No analytics cookie is set before your explicit consent. The banner shown on your first visit lets you accept or decline, and declining is exactly as easy as accepting. You can revisit your choice at any time using the "🍪 Cookies" button at the bottom of every page.
Cookies strictly necessary for the site to function — remembering your consent choice, for example — are set without consent, as permitted by law.
6. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Breeders have no access to any of your contact details unless you provide them yourself by contacting the breeder directly. Information we collect is only shared with providers necessary to operate the portal (hosting, analytics), and only to the extent required.
7. Hosting and place of processing
This site is hosted on a server located in Canada. Should a provider need to process your information outside Québec, we would first complete the privacy factor assessment required by Law 25.
8. Your rights
- Access — obtain a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting a request already in progress.
- Deletion — request deletion of information whose purpose has been fulfilled.
- Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
- Complaint — file a complaint with Québec's Commission d'accès à l'information if our response does not satisfy you.
We respond to any request within a maximum of 30 days.
9. Security
The site is served entirely over HTTPS. Access to information received is limited to the minimum necessary. Should a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious harm occur, we would notify affected individuals as well as the Commission d'accès à l'information, as required by law.
10. Changes
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page, with a revised update date.
